About Field Cast Iron Skillets

It all started when we inherited a number of vintage 1920’s cast irons from our maternal grandmother - who’s last name was Field. As we acquired some new cast iron over the years we couldn’t help but find it sorely lacking. The difference between the new stuff and our favorite vintage pans was striking.

Why were old cast iron pans so much better?

Most significantly, they were lighter and their interiors were much smoother than new pans.

When making the Field Skillet we reduced the weight by making the walls of the pan thinner. We obsessed over the handle shape and feel. We created a much smoother cooking surface that’s meticulously polished and thoroughly pre-seasoned so your new pan arrives well on its way to being an old pan, in the best way. After making a lot of prototypes, we knew we had a winner when we stopped making eggs at home on our 1923 Wagner.

Made in USA

We're an American company with an American notion about quality. We make our skillets here in the United States, the way they used to make them. We're a family business and we take the utmost pride in everything we do.
